On April 14th five divisions of Piraeus Bank, among them winbank, and one subsidiary, were awarded with EFQM's (European Foundation Quality Management) prize "Committed to Excellence". EFQM is a non-profit membership foundation, which is helping to create strong European organisations that practice the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) in the way they do business and in their relationships with their employees, shareholders, customers and communities in which they operate. The five divisions that were awarded are the following: Human Resources, e-Banking, Marketing, Legal and IT Department. In addition, Exodus, which is a Piraeus Bank subsidiary specializing in information technology solutions, won the same prize. The award demonstrates Piraeus Bank's high degree of Excellence in the management of quality as well as the Bank's fundamental process for continuous improvement.


winbank was selected as a case of best practice among the Greek companies and organisations that operate in the Internet, according to a research conducted from Athens University of Economics and Business, by order of ROTA within the scope of e-Commerce Show, in January 2003. The Department of Management Science and Technology of the Athens University of Economics and Business conducted the companies' selection, the interviews and the data analysis with the scientific assistance of the Research Team on Electronic Commerce (ELTRUN). The institution that was in charge of the research ensures its validity and reliability. Aim of the research is to be useful to the strategy of the Greek companies in the field of e-commerce and e-business. The selected companies are distinguished for the recognised quality of the offered services. Each one of them represents a different industry sector or business model that is supported electronically. Specifically, were distinguished the following organizations: winbank, ONIA-ÍÅÔ, YASSAS.COM, Electronic Commerce Centre of Cyclades and TAXISnet.
